Veterans stand guard in front of local Cenotaphs
It may have been pouring rain on Saturday, but plenty of residents came down to the Courtenay cenotaph to pay their respects to the two Canadian soliders killed last week, Warrant Officer Patrice Vincent, and Cpl. Nathan Cirillo, as well as the local soldiers guarding the cenotaph in their honor.
The Canadian Army Veterans Motorcycle Unit were standing guard, and Goat news spoke to Chief Warrant Officer Retired Fred Denninger.
He says the shooting of Cpl. Cirillo, which happened at the War Memorial in Ottawa, was particularly hard to handle.
A crowd of about 30 stood and watched the soldiers stand guard, and Denninger says they really appreciated the support.
Veterans also stood out front of the Comox Cenotaph at the same time.
