Stocky Edwards named Knight in France's Legion of Honour

Local legend James ‘Stocky’ Edwards was named a Knight in France’s Legion of Honor at 19 Wing Comox today, one of the highest decorations in France.

Edwards is a decorated World War 2 fighter pilot ace who’s already been inducted as a member in the Order of Canada, among numerous other awards and honours.

Addressing the crowd at the ceremony, Edwards says he really didn’t have a speech planned, and just wanted to thank everyone for sharing the moment with him.

The Legion of Honour was created in 1802 by Napoleon.
