Cumberland introduces after-school skateboard program

The Village of Cumberland is introducing a new after-school skateboarding program for young students.

The Village is teaming up with the Cumberland Community School Society (CCSS) and the Get on Board Youth Society for the project.

The program will run on Tuesdays throughout the month of October after school.

It will teach kids not only how to skateboard, but proper skate-park etiquette and maintenance.

The Village unveiled its new $460,000 skate-park this past July. The park was mainly funded by the Village, with extra funds provided by the CCSS and the United Riders of Cumberland through various fundraising events, grants and in-kind donations.

The park features bowls, ramps and rails for all levels of riders.
