CVRD Opening New Park in Black Creek

The Comox Valley Regional District is celebrating the opening of a new park on Friday, October 13th.

Manager of Parks Doug DeMarzo says the new Driftwood Marine Park is located in Black Creek in the Saratoga area.

“It’s mostly a walking trail that connects to the provincial Miracle Beach Park into the Saratoga area. We’ve also added a viewing platform to look out into a marsh area that people can enjoy, and some other trail facilities.”

DeMarzo says they’ve been working on the project for a few years. “Just due to fish windows and other constraints and then later in the project we decided to add a bridge where a culvert was in the marsh for better fish flow back and forth.”

He notes that the park was sitting idle when it was originally given to the Regional District in 2006.
