RCMP Confirm Deceased Male Found in Courtenay

The Comox Valley RCMP have confirmed the death of a male in Courtenay on Monday afternoon.

At approximately 2:40 PM (previously reported to be at around 3:30), police received a call pertaining to a male body found in the bushes behind the 7-11 convenience store in Courtenay, in the tree’d area between Cliffe and Fitzgerald.

RCMP have confirmed that a 19-year-old male was found at the scene. Constable Rob Gardner says, “foul play is not suspected at this time, however, an autopsy will be completed to attempt to find the cause of death.”

The investigation will be led by the Comox Valley RCMP Major Crimes Unit, with the assistance of the Integrated Forensic Section and the BC Coroners Service.
