Daylight Savings ends this weekend. That means clocks will be brought back one hour on Sunday, November 5th.

Comox Fire Chief Gord Schreiner says it’s a great time to check the batteries on your smoke detectors.

He also has a message for drivers after the time change.

“With the time change, the darker nights and the colder weather, drivers need to really pay attention this time of year with people still walking, walking their dogs and kids walking to school. Be very cautious out on the roads as they can be slippery with snow and ice.”

Fire departments are advising that commuters get some extra sleep to make up for the time change before their next commute to work.
