Record Amount Raised at CVCDA Telethon

It was a record-breaking year for the Comox Valley Child Development Association’s telethon.

The 42nd annual fundraising event brought in over $148,000 according to CVCDA Executive Director Joanna Schroeder.

She says this is especially great news for their newest project – an autism building to be built at the back of their existing facility next year.

“We’re so grateful, certainly for those people who made donations, and some of the service clubs that have made donations year after year. The Baynes-Sound Lions, who walked the 30 kilometres from Fanny Bay to the Sid Williams Theatre brought in over $10,000 just on their own,” she says.

She adds that, “[we’re grateful] for all the entertainers, the people who make sandwiches, the people who just come to the theatre and cheer. It’s just an amazing community event and I’m grateful to all of them.”

Schroeder says you can visit the CVCDA’s office on 3rd Street in Courtenay or visit their website to donate and help out the many programs they offer to the community.
