Annual Art Exhibit Opens at Comox Valley Airport

It’s a special day at the Comox Valley Airport.

The works of 25 local artists have been revealed as part of YQQ’s annual art exhibit. Operations Manager Alex Robertson says the art pieces are a great way to welcome guests and residents to the Comox Valley.

“It’s always a big deal for everyone that works here [too] because it adds to the ambience of the terminal,” he says.

“Even the staff look forward to the change-over day so we’re excited to see the new pieces come in [and] we’re very fortunate to have such talented artists in the Valley.”

The art program has been running at the airport since the new terminal opened in the early 2000’s.

Airport CEO Fred Bigelow says the art program “is an opportunity to showcase our unique identity and offer a strong sense of place to everyone who passes through our terminal.”

The Spirit of Vancouver Island exhibit runs through to May 2018. For more details on the partnership between the airport and Comox Valley Community Arts, visit www.comoxairport.com.
