Two Glacier Kings named to VIJHL prospects game

COURTENAY, B.C.- A couple of Comox Valley Glacier Kings have been selected to play in an annual classic.

Defenseman Mauro D’Alessandro and forward Finn Withey have been named to the VIJHL’s 2018 Prospects Game. The showcase puts a crop of players from the North division against players from the South division.

The two teams will face off on January 7th at the Rob Brind’Amour Arena in Campbell River.

D’Alessandro has 3 goals and 9 assists in his rookie season so far.

Withey has 31 points on the season (13 goals, 18 assists).

The Glacier Kings are currently 4-26-0-1 on the season.

Joining the two Yetis are a number of players from the Campbell River Storm.

Dawson Frank, Pearce Messer, Kyle Kaufmann, Brett Kinley, Jalen Price, Ryan Butler, Aidan Sutherland, Logan Cursley, and Timon Prexler will suit up for the game.

Alternate players Ethan Schmunk and Reid Lindsay were also named to the team.

“It’s a truly special experience for the players assembled from across the VIJHL who have the opportunity to showcase their skills before hundreds of the passionate hockey fans in Campbell River and the scouting staff in attendance,” said VIJHL President Barb Byrne.

The coaching staff for the two teams will be announced by Christmas.
