Just in time for Earth Day, the Comox Valley School District has come through with a donation of just over five hectares of ecologically sensitive land for the City of Courtenay.
Mayor Larry Jangula says he is thrilled to know the property will be permanently protected.
Jangula says the property was earlier targetted for potential development.
Jangula says the property will now be the focus of a land management plan, balancing public access while preserving a sensitive ecosystem.
