Comox firefighters donate another AED

Comox firefighters donated another automatic external defibrillator, this time to the Comox Valley Emergency Plan’s Emergency Operation Centre on Moray Avenue in Courtenay. Comox Fire Chief Gord Schreiner said that there’s a strong need for AEDs in the area.

He also had this to say about the donation.

Fewer than 10% of sudden cardiac arrest victims survive, but the survival number jumps up to 30% to 50% if CPR and AEDs are used within 5 minutes of collapse.
