Vanier finishes third at Towhee Tournament

COURTENAY, B.C.- The senior boys basketball team fought hard, but ultimately came up just short at the 50th annual Towhee Tournament this weekend.

7 other teams were in the Comox Valley for the competition. In Vanier’s first game, they defeated Westview (Maple Ridge) 66-59. Levi Timmermans led the charge for the Towhees with 19 points.

It was a different story in their second game of the tournament. The Towhees lost a close one to Nanaimo District Secondary. Final score was 80-71, with Timmermans dropping his tournament high 24 points.

Timmermans was later named to the 1st All-Star team at the tournament.

Nanaimo and Claremont (Victoria) clashed in the tournament final.

In addition to Timmermans being named to the 1st All-Stars team, Meyerhoff was named a 2nd All-Star, and Vanier’s Bentley Barth earned the Nate Dasilva Outstanding Towhee Award.
