Courtenay Recreation offering Family Day activities for free

COURTENAY, B.C.- The local recreation department is offering free activities all day long during next week’s Family Day holiday.

The LINC Youth Centre (300 Old Island Hwy) will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Residents can play ping pong, foosball, air hockey, pool, basketball or check out the indoor skate park, all for free on February 12th.

Right across the street, the Lewis Centre (489 Old Island Hwy) will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and will offer a variety of family games and activities.

There will be inflatable activities for all ages, a Youth Zone, and a cash-only concession to stay refreshed.

Family Gymnastics will also be available at the Lewis Centre from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with 30-minute sessions.

Full set-up of equipment, including trampolines and bars, will be waiting for attendees. Gymnastics staff will be on hand to offer any help and ensure participant safety.

For anyone who wants to get creative, there will be an arts and crafts room to spend some quiet time.

In a release, Courtenay Recreation noted that the squash courts and wellness centre will remain open on Family Day from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with regular fees in effect.
