COURTENAY, B.C- A third bridge could be in the cards for the Comox Valley.
On Wednesday evening, members of the public were invited out to the Florence Filburg Centre for an open house on Courtenay’s transportation plans for the next 20 years.
The city is currently working on a transportation master plan, which could include plans for a third crossing of the Courtenay River in the city’s future.
Ryan O’Grady, Courtenay’s Director of Engineering, touched on the subject while he was at the open house.
“That’s something that the consultants will definitely be considering,” said O’Grady.
“It was previously identified in a previous transportation plan. The current council has provided direction that that isn’t something that they’ll be moving forward at this time. What the consultants come out with as far as recommendations for this plan has yet to be determined.”
Residents were also asked for their opinions on pedestrian routes, bike lanes, and transit in Courtenay.
The final draft of the plan is expected to come to council in August or September.
