Island Health board to meet in Courtenay on Thursday

The board of directors for Island Health are coming to the Comox Valley.

This Thursday, the people who have a large role in how our local health care runs will be meeting in the Crown Isle Resort Ballroom.

Their meeting will start at 1:30 in the afternoon. Island Health’s priorities will be discussed at the meeting, and an update on the local population health in the Valley will be given.

A Q and A session will be held at the same time, using previously-submitted questions from the public.

Dr. Charmaine Enns, a Chief Medical Officer with Island Health, expressed hope that members of the public would come out to the event.

“This is an opportunity for folks in the Comox Valley to come and hear presentations and conversation on issues that are related to healthcare and health status,” said Enns.

“It’s an opportunity for them to meet the board and for them to ask some questions.”

She said that residents were interesting in knowing how things are done, and meeting the people that are involved, the meeting would be a “great opportunity”.

“It’s about transparency, relationship, and an opportunity that is not always easy to get when everyone is busy.”
