COURTENAY, B.C. – Social media pages were buzzing Saturday night as residents complained of hearing a loud bang or explosions in the Lake Trail area.
Police were called to the scene near Lake Trail Middle School at around 11:50 p.m. on May 12.
Several officers also heard a loud bang, according to Comox Valley RCMP Media Relations Constable Monika Terragni.
She said officers investigated the scene, but found no evidence of explosions or gunshots.
The cause of the loud bang is still unknown, but Terragni indicated that there was no threat to the public.
According to the Public Affairs Office at 19 Wing Comox, no drills or training exercises were on their schedule that evening.
