Willemar watermain replacement project starts Tuesday

COURTENAY, B.C. – City of Courtenay crews will be working along Willemar Avenue this week to replace a watermain.

The work will stretch from 17th to 21st Street, starting Tuesday, July 3rd with preliminary layout work.

Underground construction is planned to start the week of July 9th. The City said the project is expected to be completed in mid-September.

The infrastructure work will result in intermittent single-lane closures, with alternating traffic during the construction. Traffic control personnel will be on site.

Work is anticipated to take place between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. on weekdays.

Residents in the area have been made aware that access to their property may be restricted at times, as well as the possibility of intermittent disruptions to water service.

“The contractor will make every attempt to notify residents in advance of access and parking matters affecting individual properties,” read a notice from the City of Courtenay.

Questions or concerns can be directed to the city’s Engineering Department at (250) 334-4441 or via email at [email protected].
