Sewer line project moves along Ryan Road this week

COURTENAY, B.C. – Motorists are being advised of some slow-downs and single-lane alternating traffic along Ryan Road this week.

Starting Monday, July 16th, the Greenwood Trunk Sewer Line project will be moving forward. Construction on the new pipe route will take place on Ryan Road between Belair and Hudson roads.

The Comox Valley Regional District said the pipe will be installed on the south side of Ryan Road, and will cross near Hudson to move north along right-of-ways.

The Greenwood Trunk Sewer Line project started last month.

The new sewer line will bypass the Courtenay pump station and move wastewater from East Courtenay and CFB Comox directly to the sewage treatment plant on Brent Road.

The City of Courtenay said that diverting wastewater away from the pump station will help accommodate future growth.

The sewer line is on track to be completed by the end of 2018. The portion on Ryan Road between Belair and Hudson is set to be finished by August 10th, 2018.
