Cutthroat trout program underway at Horne Lake
QUALICUM BEACH, B.C. – Anglers fishing in Horne Lake have an opportunity to be rewarded with gift cards for catching tagged cutthroat trout.
A program studying the health of Horne Lake’s cutthroat trout population will run over the next three years. It will see about 150 trout tagged and then released back into the lake.
Anglers who catch one of these fish are asked to remove the tag and deliver it to the Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development office in Nanaimo at 2080A Labieux Road.
Alternatively, fishermen can take a photo and email it in to Brendan.Anderson@gov.bc.ca.
Anglers who successfully complete the process will be eligible for a $100 gift card.
