COMOX, B.C. – The Comox Valley RCMP is looking for a man who reportedly dined at a Comox restaurant and left the scene without paying for his meal.
Constable Monika Terragni said the incident took place at a restaurant on the 100 block of Port Augusta Street in Comox.
She described the suspect as being in his late twenties or early thirties, with red hair, freckles and tattoos on his arm.
He was wearing a black shirt, sunglasses and large headphones.
The Comox Valley RCMP is looking into a few other incidents that happened between July 17 and July 23, 2018.
Terragni said the detachment has received reports of mail being taken from mailboxes at different locations around the region over the past few weeks.
She offered a few trips to avoid this from happening:
• Check your mail every day.
• If headed away on a holiday, get someone to check your mail daily.
• Avoid putting cheques and/or money in the mail.
• If your community mailbox has already sustained damage, contact Canada Post and/or building management so that it can be fixed properly.
A break and enter was reported to the RCMP. On July 17, the rear compound of a business on the 900 block of McPhee Avenue in Courtenay was broken into.
Tools were taken from a locked trailer. Stolen items included a flood light, socket sets, a hole saw, a skill saw and drill bits.
In another incident on July 17, a generator was reported stolen from a business on the 600 block of Anderton Avenue in Courtenay.
On July 19, police were called to a local residence for a noise complaint when an officer recognized the stolen generator and seized it.
A second generator at the residence had also been reported stolen back on July 12. The stolen generators were returned to their rightful owners.
Sometime between July 20 and 22, a bicycle was stolen from an unlocked shed on the 2300 block of Rosewall Crescent in Courtenay. Terragni said the bike is a black “Giant” brand with grey on the cross bar and pink on the handlebars.
The bike’s serial number is GY912111. Two five-by-eight pieces of wood were also taken from the shed.
On July 20, the RCMP received a report of a stolen vehicle from the 1700 block of Lewis Avenue in Courtenay.
The vehicle is a grey, 4-door 2004 Honda Civic. Terragni noted that the vehicle had stickers on the rear window and the BC license plate was listed as FM6 17B.
On July 22, a family found themselves trapped on the far west end of Comox Lake after their boat lost power. RCMP members conducting boat patrols were flagged down and assisted the family in getting safely back to shore.
