Eleven Comox Valley artists showing work at prestigious Sooke show

SOOKE, B.C. – The Comox Valley will be well represented at the prestigious Sooke Fine Arts Show that starts today and runs until Aug. 6 at the SEAPARC Leisure Complex.

According to Comox Valley Arts, 11 artists from the Comox Valley have been juried in to the well-respected annual exhibit.

Local artists selected include painters David Ballantyne, Marianne Enhorning, Ian Fry, Sandra Lamb, Uli Ostermann, Marilyn Peeters, Jill Paris-Rody, Perrin Sparks and Patt Scrivener; pyrographic painter Sue Pyper; sculptor and painter Ina-Griet Raatz-von Hirschhausen; Mixed-medium artist Lori Kenney; and basketry artist Christi York.

The art show exhibits over 300 pieces of work chosen from more 1,000 submissions.

The show includes paintings, sculptures, drawings, photographs and more and also features a gift shop, bistro, special events for children and seniors, daily live artist demonstrations, lectures, and music.

The 11-day show and sale draws more than 8,000 art lovers from Canada, the U.S. and abroad.

Many of the Comox Valley artists can be found via the Central Island Arts Guide and all have participated in at least one of the last six Central Island Studio Tours.
