Headquarters Road house fire ruled not suspicious

COURTENAY, B.C- A suspicious cause for a weekend fire in the Comox Valley has been ruled out this week.

The fire was at a home in the 4600 block of Headquarters Road on Sunday afternoon. According to the Comox Valley Record, the flames were confined to a back bedroom, with the Courtenay fire department knocking down the fire quickly after arrival.

The single storey home did suffer smoke and heat damage, and no injuries were reported from the scene.

The residents were not home at the time of the blaze.

Constable Monika Terragni has now confirmed that the fire is not suspicious, and police are not investigating.

The exact cause of the fire remains unknown as of this publication.
