Woman assaulted in Willemar Avenue alleyway

COURTENAY, B.C- A man will be going to court after a woman was attacked this Monday.

According to a news release from the Comox Valley RCMP detachment, the incident took place around 2:05 p.m. in an alleyway off Willemar Avenue. Officers responded to a report of a woman calling for help, and located a woman who had been assaulted.

They also found the man who allegedly assaulted her. The woman suffered minor injuries, and was known to the man. Police believe the attack was not random.

The man was arrested, and released with an upcoming court date.

A witness who was in the area told the MyComoxValleyNow.com newsroom that the man was in his 20’s, while the woman was around 41 years old.

According to the witness, the woman had sustained head wounds and bite wounds to her arms from the attack, after her head was driven into the ground, and two men assisted in stopping the attack.

Police could not confirm the extent of the woman’s injuries, and the date of the man’s court appearance, as well as his name, are not available as of this publication.
