UPDATE: Missing hikers in Surge Narrows found

QUADRA ISLAND, B.C. – Two women reported missing since Wednesday have now been found.

According to Paul Berry, the president of the Comox Valley Search and Rescue, the women were found in one of the river drainages in the search area in Surge Narrows, which is on the northeastern tip of Quadra Island.

“We’re now just working on a plan to airlift them out of there,” he said. He added that the women were cold, but otherwise safe and unharmed.

Berry has said that the search for the women pulled together every search team on Vancouver Island and teams from the Lower Mainland.
