Application made for cannabis store at Comox Mall area

COMOX, B.C. – It’s official: an application for a recreational cannabis retail store has been put forward to the Town of Comox for the Comox Mall area.

According to Town of Comox staff, there have been several inquiries and one application that will be processed, and will come before council once it’s complete.

Staff told council on Wednesday that the province does a” pre-vetting” of an application before it comes before the town.

In this case, there are requirements in the town’s business license and bylaw in terms of how the applicants display their product and other items.

In July, Comox Council passed zoning amendment bylaws that paved the way for the potential sale of recreational cannabis in the town.

The town has identified three potential locations for future cannabis retail stores.

Two would include downtown Comox, with another store in a separate commercial area.
