High winds result in ferry cancellations between Hornby and Denman islands

HORNBY ISLAND, B.C. – Due to high winds, some sailings have been cancelled connected two islands in the Comox Valley.

The MV Kahloke’s 8:00 a.m. departure from Hornby Island to Denman Island was cancelled because of the fast winds. The 8:20 a.m. sailing leaving Denman Island was also cancelled.

In addition, BC Ferries cancelled the 9:00 a.m. departure from Hornby and the 9:20 a.m. sailing leaving Denman Island.

“The safety of our passengers and crew is of primary importance to us. We don’t take the decision to cancel sailings lightly, as we know customers rely on us to get to their destinations,” read a notice from the ferry service.

The company said it will resume service when it is safe to do so. For more details, visit bcferries.com.
