Missing Cumberland man found alive

Unbelievable news out of the Village of Cumberland; Jamie Sproule, the 65 year old local that went missing 5 days ago, has been found, alive.

Comox valley ground search and rescue President Paul Berry says, it was his family that ultimately found him, though he was unresponsive.

Sproule, who suffers from Parkinson’s disease and dementia, was transported to hospital in what Berry calls, ‘surprisingly good condition.’

Sproule was found about halfway between his house on Comox Lake Road and Jumbo’s cabin. He was found north of the rock cairn, according to the Cumberland fire department.

Berry says while things looked bleak at times, everyone is obviously elated at the news.

Berry also took time to thank the community, especially residents of the Village of Cumberland, for the massive response to the search over the weekend, as roughly 163 people from local, and neighboring communities came out to help.
