Operation Red Bow kept roads safe while raising more than $1,200 for charity

COMOX VALLEY, B.C. – Operation Red Bow delivered in many ways on New Year’s Eve and early into New Year’s Day.

The designated driver service based out of Mary’s Café in Comox offered safe rides home to New Year’s Eve revelers in exchange for donations to Kus-kus-sum, which is dedicated to the purchase of the old Field Sawmill site and its restoration and preservation.

“We want to give a big thank you to all our volunteers that dedicated their time and energy for Operation Red Bow,” a post on the Operation Red Bow Facebook page said. “Without you all this event wouldn’t of been such a success.”

Operation Red Bow raised $1,212.50 for Kus-kus-sum.

“But best of all we got lots of people home safely,” the post said.

Operation Red Bow thanked CSN – Reliable Auto Body for their generous contribution of multiple cars for our volunteers again this year.

The service also gave kudos to Comox Valley Hyundai for providing a caravan for the evening.

“Last but not least, thank you to our amazing community,” the post continued. “The support for Operation Red Bow (has) been outstanding and we cherish all the love we get every year for this event. Thank you Comox Valley.”

Past Operation Red Bow donation recipients included St. Joseph’s Cancer Clinic and last year, Mothers Against Drug Driving (MADD).
