CVRD sewer service information sessions set for today and tomorrow

COMOX VALLEY, B.C. – The Comox Valley Regional District is inviting residents to ‘talk poop’ over the next two days.

For those wanting a say on the future of the Courtenay/Comox sewer service, information sessions are taking place today (Jan. 30) at the K’omoks First Nation Hall, and tomorrow (Jan. 31) at Rotary Hall (Florence Filberg Centre, downstairs).

Both sessions get underway at 5:00 p.m. and run until 7:00 p.m.

Long term planning is now underway and a long list of options has been developed. Residents are invited to drop in at one or both of these CVRD’s sessions to review options, talk to its team, and provide feedback.

The CVRD notes that “ensuring our sewer system meets the needs and goals of the community is a critical part of its services.”

To plan for the future, the CVRD has elected to use a Liquid Waste Management Plan (LWMP) process to identify the improvements required for the sewer system in Courtenay and Comox and engage the public in the creation of a future vision for the sewer service in these communities.

The committee will bring a long list of options for our sewer service to the community for review. This will include options for conveyance of wastewater (pipes and pump stations), treatment of wastewater at our treatment plant and resource recovery (re-using of treated effluent). Residents will have the opportunity to respond to an online survey from January 30 through February 5.

The  K’omoks First Nation Hall’s address is 3330 Comox Rd, while the Florence Filberg Centre is at 411 Anderton Ave.
