More details on fatal MVA

A major on scene investigation continues on a deadly motor vehicle accident south of Courtenay on the Inland Island Highway near the Trent River Bridge.

RCMP Constable Chris Mousseau is with the RCMP’s North Island Traffic Services Unit and says the crash occured at about 9 o’clock this morning.

Mousseau says next of kin are being notified, but can confirm the male driver is from Parksville. RCMP say the Inland Island Highway remains shut down right now in both directions, but could re-open in around an hour or so.
