Snow rolling across eastern Vancouver Island

VANCOUVER ISLAND, B.C- The second winter storm in two days is hitting Vancouver Island.

Highway 19 from Black Creek to Nanoose Bay appears to be rapidly gathering snow, along with the Old Island Highway.

According to DriveBC, there is compact snow between Hamm Road and Cook Creek along 19 to the south, which turns to slush with slippery sections between Sayward Road and Hamm Road heading north.

The current weather system is forecast to spread snow across the entire South Coast, with intense snowfall this evening on Vancouver Island.

Drivers should prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.

The snow is expected to taper off gradually during the day tomorrow.
