COMOX VALLEY, B.C. – Air Canada is upping the capacity aboard its flights to Comox Valley Airport.
The airline announced on Thursday that it will boost capacity on 11 regional routes across Western Canada this spring as it deploys more state-of-the-art Bombardier Q-400 Next Gen aircraft.
The changes are part of an ongoing transformation of Air Canada Express that will result in enhanced services for customers, result in enhanced services for customers, according to the company.
Air Canada will include four daily Q-400 flights from Vancouver to Comox with the capacity of 312 daily seats.
This marks a 23 percent increase.
Comox Valley Airport manager Fred Bigelow said the increase will have a very positive impact at a local level.
He added that the Q-400 provides about 50 percent more seats for every lift.
“For that morning flight which is very, very popular for connecting through Vancouver, that will provide a huge increase in capacity,” Bigelow said, “and likewise for getting people out the other three times in the day, so a total of four Q-400s starting this spring.”
Bigelow added that the new aircraft are quiet, comfortable, and fast.
“All-in-all, it’s a nice improvement for capacity, and for customer satisfaction, as well,” Bigelow.
Comox Valley Airport connects to three different hubs, and Bigelow said the morning flights from Vancouver are “very, very popular and expect to be quite full.”
