Courtenay’s Suzy Shier closing in May

COURTENAY, B.C- A clothing store in Courtenay’s south end will be shutting down in May.

According to Precious Oha, the manager of the Suzy Shier in the Smartcentre plaza along Courtenay’s southern end, the outlet will be closing on May 1st after head office decided against renewing their lease at the site.

The closure will affect eight employees, including Oha, who said she “didn’t see it coming”.

The store will have been running for 11 months as of April.

“I don’t want to relocate,” said Oha.

“If I could get a job, that would be good.”

The store will be having large sales throughout the lead up to its closure.

“It’s been really awesome, getting to meet some very lovely customers, we are going to miss them and they are going to miss us,” said Oha.

“I wish we could stay longer, but it is what it is, I guess.”
