Air Cadets extended a helping hand over the weekend

COURTENAY B.C- The 386 Komox Air Cadets Squadron was out helping customers bag groceries Saturday and Sunday in Courtenay.

They were at the Courtenay Superstore on Saturday from 10 a.m until 6 p.m, and the Courtenay Thrifty Foods on Sunday from 10 a.m to 4 p.m.

Michelle Claveau, the Air Cadets league representative for North Vancouver Island says events like this are important for cadet development.

“One of the tenants of the cadets program is service in their community,” said Claveau.

Claveau added they are not expecting donations, but any donations received will help fund cadet activities.

“Not necessarily expecting donations, but anything that people can donate for their services goes to support their air cadet activities such as their band, marksmanship, biathlon, camping and all other activities they do.”

She also said 10% of all donations raised will go to the Superstore Children’s Charity.

The squadron will be out to showcase that air cadets is ‘live and well here in valley’, according to Claveau.
