Snowbirds eyeing flypast over Comox’s Marina Park on April 28

COMOX, B.C. – The world-famous Snowbirds are asking the Town of Comox for permission to enter their airspace later this month.

In a letter to Mayor Russ Arnott and council, Royal LePage Snow to Surf Society quartermaster Janice Sandholm requested approval for a flyby over Marina Park by the Royal Canadian Air Force Snowbirds on April 28 from 1:00 and 3:00 p.m.

The timing coincides with the regular scheduled training runs that will be conducted over the Comox Valley by the Snowbirds from April 17 to May 7.

The Snowbirds special coordinator requires a letter stating:

“The municipality of Comox, BC is supportive of a flyby by RCAF Aircraft as low as 500 feet, flyby for the planned Snow to Surf Event being held in Comox, BC for transit, practice, and shows on 28 April 2019.

Council will be receiving the letter tonight.
