NORTHERN VANCOUVER ISLAND, BC – United Way Central and Northern Vancouver Island (UWCNVI) want to help tackle social issues.
As such, UWCNVI is offering grants to local charities to help address issues such as homelessness and poverty.
According to a release from UWCNVI, 2018 donations to the organization will be reinvested into smaller communities through charities working to have a positive impact. For 2019-2020, UWCNVI will focus on helping communities provide solutions in three impact areas:
- From Poverty to Possibility
- All That Kids Can Be
- Healthy People
UWCNVI is offering community partner grants to charities in the following communities that offer local services:
- Campbell River: micro grants of up to $2, 000 are available for each program
- Comox Valley: agencies can apply for up to $5, 000 per program
- Central Island: agencies can apply for up to $5, 000 per program
- Cowichan: micro grants of up to $2, 000 are available for each program
Community Development Grants will also be offered in each region for emerging community needs, as well as to encourage agencies to collaborate on issues such as the opioid crisis, affordable housing, homelessness and support for programs in Indigenous communities.
Registered charities operating in Campbell River, Comox Valley, Central Island, and Cowichan should submit a letter of interest between now and May 10th online through the UWCNVI site.
