McHappy Day Funds going towards new playground for CVCDA

COMOX VALLEY, B.C – The $7,000 raised from McHappy Day will be put towards a new playground and courtyard for the Comox Valley Child Development Association.

Joanne Schroeder, the executive director for the Comox Valley Child Development Association (CVCDA) says all support from the event is a big help.

“Having the support of MacDonald’s and the McHappy Day activities is really essential for us to be able to do any of those capital projects,” Schroeder said.

Schroeder added that the money from this year’s event will be heading towards building a new playground and outdoor courtyard.

She says they hope to have the new playground finished by the end of September, but added the kids won’t be able to wait that long.

“The kids will be using it at every state along the way, even if it’s only half finished.”

This is the fourth year that the McHappy Day funds have been donated to the CVCDA, and last year the money went towards their autism centre.

Schroeder says the event is always a big help for the association, and would like to “thank everybody in the Comox Valley for taking part.”
