Outbreak of ringworm closes Comox petting zoo

COURTENAY, B.C – The Hands on Farm will be closed until further notice due to a ringworm infection in one of the animals.

One of the animals at Hand on Farm, ‘Cosmo the Cow’, is confirmed to have the infection.

Staff were notified that Cosmo could have the infection Thursday, and the farm was closed immediately.

A vet was brought in yesterday and confirmed that the cow does have the disease.

The petting zoo will remain closed while the remaining animals are checked for the infection, and while the barn is cleaned.

Town staff will let the public know when the zoo will be re-opened to the public.
