Missing Campbell River man has been found dead

CAMPBELL RIVER, B.C – Campbell River RCMP confirm that 24-year old Carter Gorjeu has been found dead.

In an emailed statement, Constable Maury Tyre says Gorjeu was found Monday by RCMP.

Tyre says all media enquiries are to be directed to the BC Coroners Service.

He also added that “RCMP will not be releasing any more details in regards to this matter.”

Gorjeu was reported missing Sunday evening by friends and family members who claimed it was rare for him to lose contact.

Spokesperson Andy Watson for the BC Coroners Service says the investigation is in the early stages.

“The BC Coroners Service is in the very early stages of its fact-finding investigation involving a male in his mid-20s from Campbell River. The Coroners Service’s investigation will aim to determine how, where, when and by what means he came to his death.”
