Driver plunges into water off Highway 19A in Oyster Bay

He’s a lucky driver.

After losing control of his vehicle, a driver careened into the water at Oyster Bay just south of Campbell River.

The incident happened on Thursday night.

Oyster River Fire Rescue chief Bruce Green says they received the call at around 9:00 that night.

“We didn’t know at that time how many people were in the vehicle. Fortunately, when our first officer arrived on the scene, he saw that the driver was sitting on the back of the vehicle,” Green said.

“Some citizens had stopped and were out there helping him get out of the vehicle safely.”

Green adds there was only one person in the vehicle. The driver didn’t seem injured, but Green says he was transported to the hospital to make sure he was alright.
