Recreational cannabis store in Courtenay takes another step forward

A recreational cannabis retailer wants to set up shop in Courtenay.

The proposed shop, named The Patchi, is proposed for #103 2270 Cliffe Ave.

Its manager Ryan Hewer was the lone speaker during a public hearing on July 15th at city council chambers.

Hewer said if approved by city and province, he would be “senior management” at Apache.

He added that Apache is “very excited to bring these rules and these regulations, if approved, to the community.”

“We just wanted the council to know, and Mr. Mayor know, that we are doing our best to proceed with every caution, as well for the community and the province and legislation as well.”

According to the company’s business, plan, it will fill a need and offer a ‘premium’ service to those interested in purchasing non-medical cannabis.

It says that it will adhere to all of the regulations and guidelines as outlined in the government laws.
