Retro Roller Disco comes to Comox Valley

More than 100 pairs of rental roller skates and 700 vinyl records will be in the Comox Valley this weekend.

The Roll Bounce Roller Disco – a joint effort by the Brick House Betties and Roller Skate Victoria – is tomorrow at the Comox Valley Curling Club.

The 19-plus event, which includes a beer garden, is a retro costume party, so guests are encouraged to arrive in their best disco attire.

Victoria’s DJ Miker will be spinning the tunes and says guests can expect to hear nostalgic hits from the disco era all night.

“Skaters can roll to the sounds of the Bee Gees, ABBA, Blondie and KC and the Sunshine Band just to name a few. We’ve got a disco ball and some laser lights, it’s going to be a blast,” he said.

“I’ve been spinning at Roller Skate Victoria events for a year now and one of the things people often say to me is, ‘Wow, I totally forgot about that song, it really took me back’”

Roller Skate Victoria instructors will be on hand if anyone requires assistance getting rolling.

The event takes place from 7:00 to 11:00pm.
