RCMP looking for assistance after fatal hit and run in Parksville

The Oceanside RCMP is looking for information after a man was killed in a hit and run Saturday.

Police say around 2:40am it received a call that a driver had seen a male body in the middle of the road on Hirst Avenue at McMillan Street in Parksville.

Oceanside RCMP Corporal Jesse Foreman says “the unknown suspect driver fled the scene and was not present to speak with witnesses or police.”

A 32-year-old Parksville man was confirmed dead as a result of the collision.

Foreman says police are working to collect evidence as they move forward with the investigation and look for a possible suspect.
