North Island College’s ElderCollege celebrating 20 years

North Island College’s ElderCollege is hosting an event to celebrate its 20th anniversary.

The ElderCollege is for students aged 50 or more (55 or more in the Comox Valley) and has
more than 140 courses and lectures annually, without the stress of grades or exams.

The college is inviting the public to an event on Friday, September 13th between two and three in the afternoon.

It will feature speeches from past and current ElderCollege officials, as well as the unveiling of a commemorative plaque outside the Stan Hagen Theatre in Courtenay.

NIC’s president, John Bowman says the event is more than just an anniversary.

“We’re recognizing the extraordinary, sustained effort by dedicated volunteers who have grown the Comox Valley ElderCollege membership to more than 1,000 students, ensuring the joy of education continues at all ages. They have created a legacy of lifelong learning that NIC is proud to be a part of,” said Bowman.

The event is free and open to the public but you must register in advance by clicker here.
