Final Simms Concert collects cash, groceries for food bank

Concert-goers hungry for nostalgia are helping to feed the needy in the community.

An estimated 1,400 people attended the My Generation Woodstock tribute concert at Simms Millennium Park.

The final concert of the 2019 Simms Summer Concert Series was a food-and-fundraiser for the Comox Valley Food Bank.

And while it may have been one night, the concert will live on in the form of a big boost for the local food bank.

Concert-goers donated about 1,200 pounds of food, plus $2,264 to the cause – that nearly doubles last year’s cash donation total.

The city is thanking all of the concert-goers, organizers, volunteers, sponsors, sound technicians and performers for making this season such a success.

The Simms Summer Concert Series is co-sponsored by the Comox Valley Record, The Goat 98.9 FM Comox Valley, and What’s On Digest Comox Valley.

Performers interested in being on stage for the 2020 Simms Summer Concert Series can apply in January 2020 at courtenay.ca/simms
