Work is underway in Comox to install new fibre optic cables, which will cause some delays for drivers.

The town says the installation started today and will likely continue until the end of October.

The work will affect a bunch of roads in Comox Including:

  • Beaufort Avenue between Wilcox and Church Streets.
  • Church Street between Noel Avenue and Beaufort Avenue
  • Linshart Road from Guthrie Road to Noel Avenue
  • Guthrie Road from Linshart Road to Torrence Road

Along with the work, the town says parking restrictions will be introduced.

The restrictions include Church Street between Buena Vista Avenue and Beaufort Avenue and Beaufort Avenue between Church Street and Wilcox Street.

The parking restrictions will be in effect 24-hours a day until September 20th.

Signs will be posted to remind drivers where they can and cannot park while crews install the new cables.
