Spike in daylight break and enter cases in Comox Valley

The RCMP is sounding the alarm about a spike in daylight break-and-enter cases in the valley.

There have been break-ins reported in Comox, Courtenay, and Black Creek.

Comox Valley RCMP media relations officer, Const. Monika Terragni says this is a good time to remind everyone to be vigilant.

“Lock your doors and report any and all suspicious activity to police right away,”  Terragni said.

On Wednesday, the RCMP  received a report of a break and enter to a home on the 2700-block of Paula Place in Courtenay.  This break and enter is one of several reported in the last two weeks.

At about 11:20am, a man entered the house on Paula Place, encountered one of the residents, and stole a gold watch and a silver chain.

He is described as being in his 30s, Caucasian, slicked back black hair, wearing a black hoodie and jeans carrying a blue tote bag.

Investigators are being assisted by Integrated Forensic Identification Services and the Comox Valley RCMP Crime Reduction Unit as they continue to work toward identifying the suspect(s).

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Comox Valley RCMP at 250-338-1321.

If you wish to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or online at http://comoxvalleycrimestoppers.bc.ca/.
