Suspicious package located at 19 Wing Comox

19 WING COMOX – A suspicious, unmarked package was found at 19 Wing Comox Headquarters’ mail room today at approximately 10:45 a.m., which alerted military staff to take immediate action and evacuate the building.

Emergency Response and the Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) Team immediately cordoned off the building and the surrounding area.

EOD experts neutralized the package, without incident. Following destruction of the package the screening of the headquarters was completed and personnel returned to work safely.

The 19 Wing EOD and security teams worked closely together to respond to this situation. The events associated with this incident demonstrate the effectiveness of the 19 Wing Defence Team Emergency Response procedures.
