The Comox Valley and Campbell River will be honouring our veterans, past and present, on Monday.
The Courtenay parade starts from the Legion at 10:40 and carries on towards Jubilee Square.
The ceremony at Jubilee Square starts at 10:50. There will be a Flypast at 11:00am followed by the laying of wreaths.
There will be an open house at the Courtenay Legion’s lounge after the parade.
Later, the Bells of Peace Service at St. Andrews Church on Dingwall is at 4:30pm.
That’s when 101 bells will ring with bagpipes, to remember 101 years since the 1918 Armistice.
The Bells of Peace at HMCS Alberni Museum is at sunset. The names of all 59 crewmen lost on HMCS Alberni will be read as the bell is tolled for each man.
In Comox, the parade begins at Nordin Street and continue along Comox Avenue, leading to the cenotaph.
You’re advised to start lining up for the parade at around 10:30am.
The ceremony at the cenotaph includes a moment of silence at 11:00am.
In Cumberland, the ceremony is being held at Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 28.
A parade starts at Dunsmuir Avenue at Third Street at 10:35 a.m. and travels to the Legion just past Fourth Street. That section of Dunsmuir will be closed to traffic during the parade and service.
In inclement weather, the service will be held at the Cumberland Recreation Centre.
Campbell River’s parade begins at the Chances Casino parking lot at 10:35am.
It will make its way past Shoppers Row to the Cenotaph for the ceremony and laying of the wreaths at 11:00am.
