Deadline looming to do online survey on Campbell River roundabout

The City of Campbell River is looking for feedback on the look of the future Rockland Roundabout.

The city has an online survey, as it collects input on the four design concepts at the centre of the roundabout.

The deadline to complete it is Nov. 17.

As part of the Highway 19A Upgrades project, the city is installing the roundabout at Rockland Road.

The city says it will calm traffic and increase safety for drivers and pedestrians in the area.

The survey asks about the four proposed concepts for the centre of the roundabout. Designs include tidal pool, salmon, community DNA, and unity circle.

They’re in early design stages and have to be developed further while also considering the safety needs of the intersection.

Feedback on the four concepts will be used to help make decisions on the next steps.

The roundabout will be built in 2020 and is part of the Highway 19A Upgrades project, which includes underground infrastructure improvements, moving electrical wires underground, enhancements to the Seawalk and improved park areas and parking for roughly one kilometre north of Simms Creek.
